The internet defines glamour as “an attractive or exciting quality that makes certain people or things seem appealing.” This got me questioning—is being glamorous all about materialistic idealism? Is it a part of someone’s demeanor and personality? Or can it be both?
I created a series of images depicting the idea of materialistic glamour, expressed through the themes of empowerment, elegance, and bad bitch mentality. Using soft, earthy ‘60s tones and loud, busy clothing, I put together these dreamy shots on both film and digital.
I love a film with a strong female character and after recently watching The Great Gatsby for the hundredth time, I felt inspired to base a shoot on glamour and femininity. The subject of Gatsby’s love is Daisy, a young married woman who oozes charm, sophistication, grace, and aristocracy, which is the exact kind of image I was aiming to replicate in this photoshoot.
