Cameron and I took these photos at dusk deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We had spent the last week driving across the United States with few plans with only each other. We did this shoot with whatever things we had on our campsite: A flashlight and the clothes in the back of my car.
I wanted the images to make the most of the environment we were surrounded by, and immortalize this trip in an abstract way. I’ve found that making beautiful images is easy when you have an open and trusting relationship with the people you are photographing, and while we had been friends for a while, this trip really brought a new depth of understanding and comfort to our friendship.
